Study Abroad

Whether you are a Waseda University student wanting to come to Portland State University, or a North American or International student wanting to study Japanese during the summer at Waseda, welcome to our site! The Waseda Oregon Office at Portland State University is the place to learn more about these academic programs and how to apply. We serve as a “branch” office of Waseda University in the United States, primarily focused on student programming. Since 1999, our programs have attracted a cadre of highly motivated and talented students, and we look forward to assisting you with your study abroad goals.

Our programs

For students wishing to study Japanese at Waseda:

The Waseda Summer Japanese Program (July-August)

This program takes up to 60 students from around the United States and the world for six weeks of intensive Japanese language study

For students wishing to study at PSU:

The Transnational Program (March-December)

For Waseda University students interested in studying abroad on the Japanese academic year calendar.

The Environmental Sustainability Program or LOHAS (September-June)

For Waseda University students interested in learning more about sustainability at a university and in a city both recognized for their leadership in this area.
