2010 Summer Japanese Program at Waseda University

Since 1999, nearly 600 students from the United States, Canada and the world have come to Waseda University for an intensive summer Japanese language program. Their goals are as varied as they are—from meeting language requirements at their home institution to preparing for further study abroad or work experience in Japan. While language study is what motivates students to join the program, most leave it with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

2010 Transnational Program (TNP) at Portland State University

The first of the TSA programs offered for Waseda University students, the TNP has had ten groups of Waseda students in the past nine years. This well-established program offers a high level of academic and student life support for Waseda students. Students take classes in academic English, comparative US-Japan studies and may choose from a variety of electives at Portland State University. This program runs in tandem with the Japanese academic calendar, so students do not need to interrupt their studies at Waseda.

2010-2011 Environmental Sustainability Program (LOHAS) at Portland State University

The Environmental Sustainability TSA started in 2007, and it allows Waseda students to study this topic at a university and in a city that leads the United States in sustainability study and practice. Students take classes in academic English, Environmental Science, Green Buildings and Healthy Cities. Portland is considered the “greenest” city in the United States and Waseda students enjoy living and studying here.
